It was year 2004 and a gimmick night. Me and 5 of my friends (the bling-blings) are invited to watch a 'gig' to this famous resto bar in Shangri-La Ortigas. The performing band's name was the Escape Band, and a friend's hubby was the lead guitarist and she wanted us to meet him. Gie was the designated driver and we were about to park within the vicinity.
As we drove to the parking area, we were stopped by the 2 guards to check on the trunk's car (for security purposes). So she pulled over, opened the trunk and rolled down her window. She asked 1 of the guards if we were in the right location..
"Manong, dito ba yung Water-loo?" Gie asked politely. Everybody was stunned on what we heard... And we just kept silent. (I forgot why.. hmmm)
The guard, paused for a moment, scratched his head then turned to Gie and said "Ano po, Water-loo? Walang ganun dito."
"Opo, yung... yung Water-loo, yung resto bar?" She said, with a little hesitation.
Everybody was dazed! Even the Guard! Couldn't even think what he will answer to my confused friend..
Then the good thing, after a second or so, she realized and came to her senses. "Ay, Watering Hole pala" then chuckles.
The guard let us through. We were laughing at that incident till we got inside and heard the band's first set!
