a poker addict's day off

Just last Tuesday, I was, of course, playing poker! (Booo-yah!)

I was on the roll that day.. Winning consecutive hands, getting high cards, raising, and vigorously betting all in. I’ve reached to a positive of what my tag was.. A PRO 1M tag and some thousand plus. I was happy and feeling confident.

Every time I enter a table, I always make sure not to bet more than what I can't afford to lose because I might lose my... hmmmm.. laptop (not my head) in anger and frustration. In other words, I hate losing!

Today, I've decided to take a day without poker. Not because I was happy and had enough of the adrenalin rush in winning lots of the 'virtual' chips last Tuesday..

But because, after an hour of losing 900k yesterday (Thursday), I have to stop and just had to stop before everything in front of me might be seen in the dumpster! AARRRGHHH!

I just had to COOL off! So, beam me up scotty!!!

a realization after a lunch movie

It was after lunch! Just had Jollibee delivered and finished a chicken spaghetti meal. YUMMY! I was just watching Daniel Craig's Casino Royal in star movies.. I'm in the part where they were playing Texas Hold 'em Poker, the last buy-ins. If you haven't seen the movie, they're playing with real money (millions of dollars) and with real players, unlike me, just virtually! hehe

They were just 4 at the table. With James Bond (of course), 2 millionaires and the villain (i dunno who). The flop was an ace of diamonds, 5, 6 , 8 and an ace of spades. After the last card was open, everybody went "all in". Of course, some made the confident look, some showed their Poker Faces.. It was a very intense game! Again, they we're betting with lots and lots of money! In millions!!! Imagine that!

So the 1st gentleman showed his hand, he had a king and queen of spades. His hand was good, making a flush. A sure win, but not quite.

Then it was the 2nd gentleman's turn to show his cards. He had a pair of 8's.. making a fullhouse of Ace to 8's. Good hand, indeed.. But not quite!

Then show the cards of the villain. He had an ace and a 6. A much more higher fullhouse, having 3 aces and a pair of 6's. Nice! He almost had the $146 M of the pot.

But of course, Mr. Bond will make sure he will not lose this. He showed his cards.. then BAM! Showed a 7 and 4 of spades. A very remarkable hand! He makes a Straight flush! A much higher that fullhouse! to make this story short, Mr. Bond won the pot and gave half a million tip to the dealer!

MORAL OF THE LESSON: learn how to deal and get a poker dealer's job. you might be lucky to have a Mr. Bond playing in your table and tip you half a mill dollars! Its now or never.. And don't say i didn't advice you!

one of my addictions..

i have to be honest, i can say i am now a poker addict! wait.. let me clear this.. I'm not the person who goes to casinos, sits on a table, bet with real hard earned money and play the game! what I'm talking about is virtual poker.

you see, it all started when a friend invited me to this very interesting site where you can be connected with family and friends all over the world through the powers of the Internet. moreover, meet strangers and can interact with them just by adding an application such as p.o.k.e.r.!

its as simple as ABC. with just a click of a button (check/call/raise/fold), you can win lots of chips! from hundreds to thousands, thousands to hundreds of thousands, even millions (if you're darn lucky). virtually, of course! and with those won chips, your status will change to how much you've leveled up. but also, you can lose a lot too (if you don't know the strategy! ehem!) haha..

it would be hard to win hundreds and thousands in a sitting. Yes, patiently you have to go room to room and find that lucky table or chair to boost you up, win and be happy till the end of the day. Well, but it is much more painful and agonizing to lose them little by little, especially in a split second... See, your chips will gone... all gone... and POOF! ironically in just 1 hand! ouchie!

what is more painful in poker is when you really really know that you will win this round because you have a very good hand (2 wow cards) and then confidently place your bet in an "all in" mode, and surely that your FULL HOUSE (a pair + 3 of a kind) is so unbeatable.. then after that moment the River (the last of the 5 cards to open) opens.. and then WHAM! your opponent shows you a quadruple (4 of a kind) hand! "NOOO"! suddenly your heartbeat starts to pump much more than it usually does, your body starts to shake and realize.. CRAP! #@&%! you've lost! what a murder!!! waaaaaaaaaa... well, this has happened to me, really (and other more eye-widening and mouth-dropping situations).. and its really a G.R.R. moment! Oh well, good thing its just Internet chips.. whew! hihihi!

us, (ehem) poker players in that site, most of us have this sort of 'separation anxiety' over the fake money! that's why i get to react that way when losing.. why? duh! its because.. well.. i shall say it was hard work.. I mean, sleepless nights on getting a stat from beginner to a Pro 500K player (which is what my status is now), the heart raising and nail-biting bluffs, the drama of begging to Pro 5M players to give back your lost chips.. etc.. but for some, its a waste of time!.. (true.. even my dad thinks this!)

the reason why i am sharing this is because... its MY addiction, mine! and that's about it!
